DIET FOR WORLD PEACE

The Buddha:

All beings tremble before violence.
All fear death, all love life.
See yourself in others.
Then whom can you hurt?
What harm can you do?

Venerable Master Hsuan Hua:

Compassion means a universal concern for the welfare of all creatures.

Jeremy Bentham:

…The question is not,
Can they reason?
nor Can they talk?
but, Can they suffer?

Albert Schweitzer:

It is man’s sympathy with all creatures that
first makes him truly a man...

Until he extends his circle of compassion to all living things,
man himself will not find peace...

Albert Schweitzer:

…compassion, in which all ethics must take root,
can only attain its full breath and depth
if it embraces all living beings and does not limit itself to mankind.
