The Master's virtue moved young Americans, gently subduing their strong sense of independence and concept of "freedom," so that they willingly learned simple Buddhist rituals such as reciting Buddha's and Bodhisattva's names. They follow the monks and nuns in circumambulation.

In l976, four more young men and women made the resolve to enter into monastic life. They were the monks Heng Sure and Heng Shun, the nun Heng Chu, and another monk who was the first Asian to leave home with the Master since his arrival in the West.
